Parampara Folk Band

Having been introduced to music at a very early age by her father, Kasturi grew up in an environment which nurtured music and dance. She completed her basic classical and Rabindra Sangeet training along with her early education. After that she started her Rabindra Sangeet taalim from Geetabitan and classical taalim from Pandit Sukdeb Goswami. For many years, she endeavored to perfect her vocal skills under the able tutelage of Rabindra Sangeet stalwart Dr. Chitralekha Choudhury, Smt. Swagatalaksmi Dasgupta and Sri Debasish Roy. In her quest to pursue her knowledge in music, she is currently honing her skills in classical music under the expert guidance of renowned classical maestro Pandit Tushar Dutta. Her first music album participation was in Swadesh, directed by Dr. Chitralekha Choudhury. Her first Rabindra Sangeet Album “Parer Kheya”, released in 2014, was very well received. She started her journey into the Folk genre with the Folk Maestro Sri Abhijit Basu. Under his tutelage, she has released a few highly appreciated folk music videos on YouTube, as well as her first original, ‘Bol Bol Kasai Nadir Jol’. Kasturi started her own school ‘Parampara school of Music” in the year 2007. This school is affiliated with Sarbabharatiya Sangeet and Sanskriti Parishad. It is a registered music school in Connecticut. Kasturi has successfully trained music enthusiasts of all ages in the genre of Classical Music, Semi-classical, Bhajans, Rabindra Sangeet, Folk and so on. She has also chaired as a judge in many musical competitions across the tri-state area. 2014 saw the birth of her own Folk band ‘Parampara’, which has performed and enthralled audiences in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
